Use of Wire Rope Grips

The first wire rope grip must be placed immediately against the thimble. The wire rope grip must be placed so that they are separated by at least one clear grip width from each other. The U-bolts must always be placed on the uploaded end of the rope.

The tightening torques given apply to the threads and bearing surfaces of the nuts greased. During assembly and before the rope is taken into service, the collar nuts must be tightened to the prescribed torque. After the load is applied for the first time, the tightening torque must be checked again and, if necessary, corrected. (Extracted from DIN 1142)
